Wegreenit has strengthened its position in the energy efficiency retrofit sector by securing two European tenders worth more than €37 million in total. The projects involve public residential housing (ERP) developments in Milan and the province of Alessandria and will be carried out under programs supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – REPowerEU and the Conto Termico 3.0 scheme.

The largest project, worth approximately €22 million, concerns an ERP complex in Milan’s Baggio district, comprising 13 residential buildings and 530 housing units managed by Metropolitana Milanese. The works include the installation of thermal insulation systems across more than 26,000 square meters, roof insulation, replacement of existing windows and doors, and the installation of new energy generation systems. The project aims to reduce energy demand by around 90% and upgrade the buildings to Energy Class A4.

The second project, valued at approximately €15.5 million, involves five ERP buildings with a total of 350 housing units located in Alessandria, Tortona, Casale Monferrato and Valenza. Through integrated energy efficiency measures, including thermal insulation and plant modernization, the project is expected to reduce energy consumption by up to 96%, cut utility bills by as much as 90%, and significantly lower CO₂ emissions.

“Energy efficiency is now a concrete tool for upgrading existing building stock, delivering tangible environmental, economic and social benefits,” said Fabrizio Candoni, CEO of Wegreenit. “Projects like these demonstrate how it is possible to significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions while improving living conditions and creating value for local communities.”

According to Candoni, the recent contract awards also confirm the important role that public-private partnerships can play in supporting the development of Italy’s future Housing Plan, helping to unlock investments and accelerate the renovation of public building assets.

The projects are expected to be completed within approximately two years and will return deeply upgraded residential complexes to local communities, improving living comfort for residents while contributing to national and European sustainability and energy transition goals.

The contracts further strengthen Wegreenit’s track record in the public housing sector. Among its previous achievements is the energy renovation of the largest residential redevelopment project in Lombardy, also located in the Baggio district of Milan. Completed in 2023, the €46 million project involved 18 residential buildings and 547 housing units.
